Ludlow contains the highest
concentration of Michelin starred restaurants outside of London. These
include:
A visit to de Grey's Café in Ludlow is also recommended.
De Grey's is a Ludlow institution - a traditional tearoom that appears
not to have changed in its ways since between the Wars!
Others:
- The Fountain Pub, just outside nearby Tenbury: Popular for food but
somewhat "cheap and cheerful" 01584 810 701
- The
Peacock, on Kidderminster road outside of Tenbury: Much smarter
than the Fountain with aspirations to be more of a "proper restaurant";
produces some good meals. Has been highly praised by many of our guests.
01584 810 701.
- Poppies
at Brimfield: Attached to the Roebuck Pub, Poppies, under its previous
owner, aspired to be a very good (and expensive) restaurant. Has recently
changed hands - we have no first hand experience since then. Often the
same meals can be obtained in the Pub at much reduced prices. 01584
711 230.
- Riverside at Aymestry:
One of our favourite pubs/places to eat. A traditional pub that has
added a good restaurant where the food, although sometimes a little
variable, is generally good without being flashy. The atmosphere of
a traditional pub. 01568 709 058
- The Granary, Nr Bromyard:
A restaurant developed in a converted barn of a local farm. Highly rated
by many of the locals but, in our view, with a greater emphasis on quantity
than quality. 01885 410 345
